Have you ever wondered, is my child as healthy as they could be? Why do my kids seem to have lots of days off school? Is this normal for my baby to be so unsettled and crying all the time? Well if you have, you are not alone, these are just some of the reasons parents bring their newborns and their children to see our Chiropractors.
What is a Vertebral Subluxation?
A Vertebral subluxation is a term Chiropractors use to describe when the joints of our spine don’t move or function correctly, this may alter/interrupt the effectiveness of signals being sent through your nervous system to your entire body. As a consequence, because the nervous system is the master controller of all bodily functions, if this is not operating at its optimum capacity, your body will not work as it is designed to. And this can cause pain, muscle tightness, lack of flexibility and lack of mobility just to name a few.
Its important to realize that Vertebral subluxation can occur at any time in your child’s life, it may occur during a normal birthing delivery, it may occur during the period of a child learning to walk and run, it may occur through poor posture or inactivity, it may occur during falls, bumps, sports or rough play. All that is needed is for one or more of the vertebrae to become locked and jammed and lose their normal range of movement for your child’s body to not work as it is designed to.
Our Chiropractors correct Vertebral subluxation and that is why we see many children present to our clinic with a whole range of symptoms, such as:
- Poor sleep
- Flat headedness
- Digestive disorders
- Ear infections
- Chronic colds
- Growing pains
- Learning difficulties
- Concentration problems
- Behavioural problems
Give your child a head start in life with Chiropractic!
Our Chiropractors will take the time to discuss your options in the management of your child’s condition. We have very experienced Chiropractors to take you through the process step by step. The adjustments in children are very gentle, infact the pressure used to adjust is no more than the pressure you would use if testing a tomato for ripeness. Most children really enjoy their adjustments. Chiropractic has an enviable safety record.
We recommend regular ongoing checkups to monitor spinal development as infants sit upright, begin to support their head, learn to crawl, and take their first brave steps!
